Celebrating PCDI Co-chair, Dr. Ana Palla-Kane
President's Distinguished Service Award
The President’s Distinguished Service Awards recognize exceptional performance, leadership and service by members of the university staff. The recipients of this award have a record of exemplary performance and distinctive contributions to the operation of an administrative, academic, research or service unit on campus.
Dr. Ana Palla-Kane, Co-Chair of the President’s Commission on Disability Issues (PCDI), will be receiving the prestigious President's Distinguished Service Award at the 37th Annual Faculty & Staff Convocation on Monday, October 19 at 3 PM. We invite you to view the event at umd.edu/convocation.
Dr. Palla-Kane, who is the Senior IT Accessibility and UX Specialist for Academic Technology & Innovation in the Division of Information Technology, is receiving the award in recognition for her tireless work in 2020 to ensure that campus learning technologies – and the campus educational environment as a whole – were as accessible and inclusive as possible as the University transitioned to online learning. Additionally, her leadership of PCDI places Dr. Palla-Kane at the forefront of disability advocacy at the University. In both of these roles, Dr. Palla-Kane has devoted herself to promoting a more welcoming and more equitable University for all disabled students, faculty members, and staff members.
Dr. Palla-Kane positively impacts the lives of many people at the University on a daily basis. The other members of PCDI are enormously proud to work with Dr. Palla-Kane and grateful to the University for giving her this most deserved honor.
Please join us in celebrating Dr. Palla-Kane and her accomplishments!
